Obituaries

Katherine Polito, recently 90 years old, of Dickson City and formerly of Scranton, passed away Friday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore.
Born in Metuchen, New Jersey, on May 20, 1928, and daughter of the late Karl and Katherine Kelly Dietrich, Katherine was a graduate of Metuchen High School. Upon meeting her husband, she moved to the Scranton-area where she began her family. Despite being a single mother, she selflessly devoted her life to raising her 12 beloved children. Now at peace, she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by seven children, Robert, Jr., Benjamin, Karl, Charles and William Polito, Althea Stanvich and Katherine Hickman; and countless grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Five children, Joseph and Anthony Polito, Jeannette and Bernice Royle, and Patricia Bennett, and two siblings, also preceded her in death.
Her family would like to thank the amazing staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their many weeks of kindness, care and compassion.
