Carole Tanner Agliata, age 71, a lifelong resident of West Scranton, passed away Saturday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Frank M. Agliata, Jr., on August 15, 2015.
Born on September 8, 1946, daughter of the late Harold and Alberta Tanner, Carole was a graduate of the former Saint Ann’s High School. A graduate of Mercy Hospital’s School of Nursing before becoming an L.P.N., she then raised her loving children. Prior to her passing, she worked as a cashier for Gertrude Hawk Chocolates. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of Saint Ann Basilica Parish, West Scranton.
Both she and her husband spent nearly 50 years spending their summers camping at Keen Lake Resort, where she had developed an extended family of lake friends who will dearly miss her. She enjoyed playing bingo and pinochle and watching football and her greatest joy came while supporting her grandchildren in various activities. Taken from her family and friends too soon, she will forever be missed.
She is survived by four adoring children, Mari Errico of Warrington, Missy Giuliani of Scranton, Michael Agliata of Pittston and Matthew Agliata of Scranton; four grandchildren, Dominic and Gina Giuliani, Caroline Jeranek and Chloe Bidwell; and her brother, Robert “Skipper” Tanner and companion Annmarie Vaskie.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date with arrangements under the care of the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton.
