Obituaries

Lois (Schoen) Churilla, age 87, a resident of Allied Terrace and formerly of West Scranton, passed away Saturday.
Born on December 15, 1930, Lois was a lifelong Scranton resident. A graduate of West Scranton High School, she worked for 40 years as Supervisor of Billing for W.W. Norton and Company of Dunmore, prior to her retirement.
She is survived by her son, Robert Butchko and wife Patricia of S. Abington Twp.; her two grandchildren, Kristen Butchko of S. Abington Twp. and Jason Butchko and wife Nina of Toronto, Ontario Canada; and two great grandchildren, Andreas and Hendrik Butchko.
Her family would like to acknowledge and thank the entire staffs of Allied Terrace, Allied Skilled Nursing Center’s third floor and Dr. Emma Rubin for their extended care and compassion throughout Lois’ illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday at 10:00AM in St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 1403 Jackson Street in West Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Richard Fox, Pastor. Interment will follow at Washburn Street Cemetery. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the church on Tuesday from 9:30AM until Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lois’ name to the American Diabetes Association, c/o 63 North Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA., 18701. Arrangements are under the care of the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton.
