Barbara A. McCullon, age 79, a lifelong resident of Scranton, passed away Tuesday evening at the Allied Skilled Nursing Center in Scranton.
Born on March 14, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Margaret Jesso McCullon. A graduate of the former Saint Ann’s High School in West Scranton, she worked as a private duty housekeeper private to retirement. She was a devoted Roman Catholic, faithfully serving God through her entire life. She was an avid country music fan who was also a collector of memorabilia, especially all things associated with President John F. Kennedy and Pope John Paul, II.
Loving, kind and caring, Barbara was an amazing mother, sister, and daughter/caregiver to her late parents. She loved angels, ironically, and now she is one, looking over her family forever. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her beloved son, Kenneth McCullon; brother, Joseph McCullon, Sr., and wife Sally, all of Scranton; and nieces and nephews.
A brother, Ronald McCullon, Sr., and nephews, Joseph, Jr. and Nicholas McCullon, also preceded her in death.
Her family wishes to thank the entire staff of Allied Services for their tremendous compassion while having Barbara under their care.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Saturday at 8:45AM from the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, with a 9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson Street in Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Richard Fox, Pastor. Private interment will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday between 4-6:00PM at the funeral home.
