Anne (Nancy) Marie O’Malley, age 85, of Scranton, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2018 at Allied Skilled Nursing facility in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Anne was born January 29, 1932 in Scranton, to Attorney Russell and Helen Burke O’Malley.
Anne graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Marywood College and obtained her Masters in Education Degree from George Washington University. She enjoyed her career as a math teacher for the Montgomery Public School District of Maryland and resided in Bethesda, MD. Anne was a devoted educator and spent much of her spare time mentoring students as well. Upon retirement, Anne returned home to Scranton, where she served the community as a dedicated volunteer in numerous areas. In addition to being a talented artist, she was also member of the St. Peter’s Cathedral choir.
She is survived by siblings: Judith Graziano of Clarks Summit; William O’Malley and wife Jane of Amelia Island, FL; Margie Cawley and husband Joe of Ponte Vedra, FL; and Susie Campbell and husband Richard of Sydney, Australia; and sister-in-law and wife of the late Russell O’Malley, Jr., Dalida Walton O’Malley. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
The eldest of seven children, Anne was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her brothers, James O’Malley and Attorney Russell O’Malley Jr.
In following Anne’s wishes, blessing services and subsequent burial at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow were held private for immediate family.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last few months, especially the staff of Allied Personal Care, Skilled Nursing and Hospice Services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Anne’s name to Allied Services Hospice, c/o 100 Abington Executive Park, Clarks Summit, Pa., 18411.
