Mary (Mollie) Gordon, age 68, of Clarks Green, passed away Christmas Day at home surrounded by her family, after an illness.
Born on October 4, 1949, and daughter of the late Owen E. and Mary Weir Gordon, Mollie was a graduate of Maria Regina College in Syracuse, New York, before working many years as an early childhood educator and as a community outreach worker. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a devoted member of The Church of Saint Gregory in Clarks Green.
Mollie enjoyed gardening and was an adoring mother to her three beloved cats, Owen, Quinn and Fiona, who never left her side. Most of all, she was a loving sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend, touching the lives of countless throughout her journey. Long remembered for recalling family stories, her legacy will now be passed on through her loving family doing the same.
She is survived by her siblings, Eugene Gordon and wife Eleanor of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, David Gordon and wife Eleanor of Harrisburg, and Patricia A. Gordon of Newport News, Virginia; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Her family wishes to acknowledge and thank all of Mollie’s amazingling loving, caring and compassionate caregivers, including Asera Care Hospice Unit. They will be forever grateful for all they’ve collectively done.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Friday at 9:00AM from the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue in West Scranton, to be followed by a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial at The Church of Saint Gregory, 330 North Abington Road, Clarks Green, to be celebrated by Rev. John M. Lapera, Pastor. Cathedral Cemetery Interment, private.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 5-8:00PM at the funeral home.
