Obituaries

Donald Johnson, age 70, of Spring Hill, Florida, peacefully passed away Friday, December 8th after an illness. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, JoAnn Johnson.
Born on September 15, 1947 and raised in the Austin Heights section of Old Forge. After graduating Old Forge High School, Class of 1965, he attended Mansfield State College then served in the U.S. Army Reserves. After nearly four decades in the building and electrical supply industry of Northeastern Pennsylvania, he retired to Florida.
Of Roman Catholic faith, he was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Church in Old Forge.
He is also survived by his son, Benjamin Johnson and wife Jennifer of Spring Hill, Fl.; family members Karen Garman-Hoey and husband Larry of Athens; Matthew Garman and wife Laura of Chatham, N.J.; Janine Johnson of Scranton; two grandsons; four granddaughters and countless friends and peers.
He has been called to heaven to be reunited with his parents Benjamin and Francis Lacomy Johnson and his first son, Richard (Rich) Johnson.
Private funeral services from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Prince of Peace Parish, in Old Forge, were celebrated by Rev. August A. Ricciardi, Pastor. Burial followed at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Old Forge with military honors by the Simpson Honor Guard.
