Catherine Bossi, age 87 and a lifelong resident of Old Forge, passed away Wednesday at The Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Leo J. Bossi, on April 19, 2001.
Born on November 9, 1930, and the daughter of the late James and Emily Addison Brown, Catherine was a graduate of Old Forge High School. She was proud to have served as a nursing assistant at Kingston’s Dorrance Manor, prior to her retirement. She was of the Primitive Methodist faith.
Her family was her life and she certainly made all holiday celebrations memorable. Always prepared to feed a crowd, her cookies and her spaghetti sauce were her specialities. Adored by her family, she will forever be missed.
She is survived by her two loving children, Mae Murawski and husband Paul of Old Forge and James Bossi and wife Beth of White Haven; five adoring grandchildren, Jennifer Notari and husband Tim of Oakland, California, Christine Murawski and Eric Elyseev of Ashville, North Carolina, Ashley Bossi and Jayson Johnson of Old Forge, Becca Zelner and Justin Seliga of Harrisburg and Ben Zelner and fiance Courtney Heys of West Chester; sisters-in-law, Rosemarie Brown of Camp Hill and Theresa Brown of Duryea; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Mae, Gerald, Frederick and wife Agnes and James Brown; father and mother-in-law, Adolfo and Adele Bossi; and brothers-in-law, Elso Bossi and wife Margaret and Elliott Bossi and wife Mary.
Catherine’s family wishes to thank the entire staff of The Jewish Home, especially the 5th floor unit, as well as Drs. Armando Sallavanti and Kenneth Sebastianelli, for the collective care and compassion given to Catherine.
Funeral services by Rev. James Whitman are scheduled for Saturday, December 16th, at noon in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Burial will follow in the Marcy Cemetery, Duryea. Relatives and friends may pay their respects from 10:00AM until services.
