Obituaries

Helen Newton, age 60, a longtime Scranton resident, passed away Sunday at the home of her daughter in West Scranton, after a longtime illness.
Born in Scranton on October 29, 1957 and the daughter of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Fleischer Orzechowski, Helen was educated at the former Scranton Technical High School. Despite her health, Helen kept active while enjoying each minute spent with her family. She loved crafting and playing cards, and most of all, spending time with her beloved “grand babies.” Now at peace, she’ll be forever missed.
She is survived by her seven children, Jenifer Santos, Julian R. Newton, III, Danielle Newton, Raymond Newton, Emma Newton, and twin daughters, Megan and Hannah Newton; her three siblings; Anna Phillips, Annette Scalese and Fred Fox; thirteen grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday between 1-3:00PM at the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton.
