Christine Callis, age 60, of Taylor, passed away Friday evening at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore, after an illness. Her best friend and loving husband of 37 years, Chester (Chet) Callis, survives.
Born on October 16, 1956 to the late Theresa and William McMurray, Christine was raised in Mountain Top, graduating from Bishop Hoban High School. For over 27 years, she worked for the United States Postal Service, even recently while battling illness. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of Saint Ann’s Basilica Parish in West Scranton. Adored by a countless number of friends and family, she’ll be forever loved.
She is also survived by two beloved children, Christopher Callis and wife Leigh Anne of Tampa, Florida, and Jennifer Callis-Ciccone and husband Jeremy of Taylor; granddaughters, Gabriella and Ariana; siblings, Warren McMurray of Tacoma, Washington, and Janet Kaczmarczyk and husband Jack of Mountain Top; and nieces and nephews.
Private arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Christine’s name to the donor’s favorite charity.
