Brian Patrick Wright, age 61, of Old Forge, died Sunday afternoon at home. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Mattioli Wright. The couple celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on June 30th.
Born in Scranton on August 23, 1956, Brian was the son of Mary Minihan Wright of Clarks Summit and the late John Wright. A graduate of West Scranton High School, Class of 1974, he then earned his Bachelors Degree in Psychology from East Stroudsburg University before earning a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Scranton. For 30 years, until 2005, he worked a Psych. Therapist for Community Medical Center’s Psychiatry Unit.
An avid golfer, Brian also enjoyed playing pool. He had an amazing sense of humor and possessed a memorable smile. His happy, friendly and positive demeaner was infectious. An adoring husband, father and grandfather, he passing was unexpected but peaceful. He’ll be forever missed by all of those whose lives he touched.
He is also survived by his loving daughter, Angela Wright of Old Forge; his two beloved granddaughters, Addison Alexandra and Nina Sophia; his three siblings, Grace Wright of Clarks Summit, John Wright and wife Rosemary of Floria and Robert Wright and wife Kathleen of North Carolina; his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Anthony Mark Mattioli and Robert Mattioli, both of Taylor; Joseph Mattioli and wife, Maribeth, North Carolina; and Maria Nash and husband, William of Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.
His was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Patrick and Anna Wright and John and Sarah Minihan; and a brother-in-law, Mark Anthony Mattioli.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Friday at 9:15AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10:00AM Mass of Christian burial at St. Ann’s Basilica, West Scranton. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Old Forge.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Brian’s name to St. Ann’s Basilica, 1233 St. Ann’s St., Scranton, PA., 18504.
