Stephen Itzkowitz, age 43, of North Scranton, passed away Sunday afternoon at home, after an illness.
Born on March 12, 1974 and raised in Essex County, he was the son of the late Barbara Brady and Sheldon Itzkowitz. For years, he served as the proud owner and operator of S&D Deli of Elizabeth, New Jersey. Passionate about his work, he wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty, either working on his car or helping someone work on their own. Even throughout his battle with Cancer, he still enjoyed taking trips to the Mohegan Sun. Passing away peacefully, he will be forever missed.
He is survived by four loving siblings, Darren Lutz of Elizabeth, N.J., caregiver Shelly Ann Cuevas and husband Carlos of Scranton, William Thompson and wife Rosie of Tom’s River, N.J., and Robin Itzkowitz of Elizabeth, N.J.; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, who all considered their Uncle Stephen a second father to them. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Sharon Orme and Deborah Morales.
His family would like to thank the amazing staff of Allied Services Hospice Unit for their tremendous care during Stephen’s final days.
A blessing service will be held on Thursday at 8:00PM at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 400 Faitoute Avenue, Roselle Park, N.J. Relatives and friends may pay their respects from 4:00PM until services.
Arrangements are under the care of the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton.
