Nancy Ann Wahl, age 81, of Old Forge, passed away Wednesday evening at Riverside Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Taylor, after an illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Wahl, on January 31, 1982.
Born in Duryea on March 7, 1936 and daughter of the late Stella Hoover, Nancy was a graduate of the former Duryea High School. A talented seamstress, she retired from the former Rohr Lingerie in Old Forge.
Of Roman Catholic faith and a member of St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Old Forge, Nancy was a faithful attendee of the Saint Ann Monastery’s Novena. Her favorite pastime was shopping, probably in excess, and she always up for playing slot machines, especially on trips to Atlantic City. Passing away peacefully, she will be forever missed.
She is survived by her adoring daughter, Donna Kelley and husband Mike of Old Forge; her sblings, William Hoover and wife Kathy of Old Forge, Judy Trowbridge of Binghamton, New York, and Annette Marta and husband Art of Scranton; and beloved granddaughters, Sabrina and Cassandra Kelley, a step-granddaughter, Megan Williams, and a great grandson, David Williams; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by seven siblings.
Her daughter wishes to thank the entire staff of both Riverside Center and Compassionate Care Hospice, as well as both Drs. Guy Fasciana and Luigi Spagnolini for their years of amazing care.
Funeral services will begin on Monday at 8:45AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 620 South Main Street in Old Forge, to be celebrated by Rev. August A. Ricciardi, Pastor. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Sunday between 2-4:00PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s name to St. Ann’s Monastery and Shrine Basilica, 1233 St. Ann Street , Scranton, Pa., 18504.
