Laura M. Stancavage, age 89, formerly of Old Forge, passed away Wednesday morning at the Gardens of Green Ridge in Scranton, where she recently resided with her beloved husband, Edward ” Fritz” Stancavage. They recently celebrated their 66th wedding Anniversary.
Born on November 6, 1927, and daughter of the late Charles and Concetta Arnone Piazza, Laura was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, Class of 1945.
Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of the former St. Michael’s Church in Old Forge, prior to its closure. She was also a member of the Old Forge Senior Citizens. A talented seamstress, she enjoyed crocheting and playing the piano. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones.
She is also survived by her sister, Jeanne Land of Waymart; and many loving nieces and nephews, especially Lynn Murray and husband Peter of Nazareth.
Laura was also preceded in death by her siblings, Anthony Piazza, Josephine Enright and Anne Molenda.
A blessing service, to be conducted by Rev. August A. Ricciardi, Pastor of Prince of Peace Parish in Old Forge, is scheduled for Monday at noon in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc. 517 North Main Street in Old Forge. Burial will follow at Holy cross Cemetery, Old Forge.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday from 11AM until services.
