Geralyn Marie Ratuszny, L.P.N., age 65, of South Abington Twp., passed away Monday morning at Allied Skilled Nursing Center, Scranton, after a courageous battle with cancer. Surviving is her beloved husband and best friend of 27 years, Paul Ratuszny.
Born in Pittston on April 11, 1952, Geralyn was the daughter of the late Leonard and Eleanor Krzwicki Resavy. A graduate of Old Forge High School, Class of 1970, she then began a long career in nursing at Moses Taylor Hospital. She worked as a Radiology Technician before last working as a Licensed Practical Nurse for the hospital. She found her career very rewarding, selflessly serving as a caregiver to her countless patients throughout the years.
An avid reader and excellent cook, she loved her family. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Duryea. Now at peace, she will be forever missed by her loved ones.
She is also survived by her children, Paul Ratuszny and wife Karen of Dallas, Adam Ratuszny and wife Trish of New York, and Brian Cecacci and wife Petra of Hawaii; her siblings, Keith Resavy of Moosic and Sharmayne Cortese and husband Joseph of Moscow; five grandchildren, Jacob, Sam, Noah, Jackson and Williow; and nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to acknowledge and thank the entire staffs of both Allied Skilled Nursing Center’s 3-South as well as Allied Hospice for the amazing care given to Geralyn throughout her stay.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday at 10:00AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Church at Prince of Peace, 123 W. Grace Street in Old Forge. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Old Forge.
Those wishing to attend the funeral are asked to go directly to church. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 4-7:00PM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Geralyn’s name to the American Cancer Society, 712 South Keyser Ave., Taylor, Pa., 18517.
