Obituaries

Robert Woolaver, age 59, of Old Forge, passed away Saturday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton, after an illness. He is survived by his longtime companion, Sheryl Baldwin of Jessup. Born in Chester on May 4, 1958, Robert was the son of the late George Ingram Woolaver the III, and Mary Louise Nichols-Woolaver. He recieved his G.E.D. from Chichester High School before moving to the area, he earned a degree in I.T. Support from the previously named Lackawanna College. Until his passing, he worked at Arlington Industries as a machine operator. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed nature walks and fishing. He was a sci-fi buff who also enjoyed working on computers and playing chess. His family was the focal point of his life, while especially adoring his children and grandchildren. Now at peace, he’ll always be missed. He survived by his children, Jennifer Byrne and husband Thomas of Cinnaminson, N.J., Neil Buerdsell of Scranton, Robert Woolaver Jr, of Houtzdale, twins, Joshua and Courtney Woolaver, both of Old Forge, and Step-daughter, Jacqueline Palumbo of Scranton; his sister, Cynthia Woolaver-Petrillo and husband Paul of Upland; two grandchildren, Madelyn and Thomas Byrne; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Brothers, Christopher and George Woolaver, IV, also preceded him in death. His family wishes to acknowledge and thank the entire staff of Regional Hospital’s S.I.C.U. A Memorial Mass is scheduled for Saturday at 10:00AM at Saint Ann’s Basilica, West Scranton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s name to Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association (CMT), P.O. Box 105, Glenolden, Pa., 19036.
