Joseph Chelland, “Joe Bro” age 44, of Old Forge, passed away Tuesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton, after a sudden illness. Together for 26 years, he is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Palermo Chelland.
Born in Scranton on October 10, 1972, Joseph was the son of George, Sr. and Joan Kitch Chelland. He attended the former Scranton Central High School, before most recently working for Old Forge Borough’s Department of Public Works.
Joseph had a lust for life. He was a jokester, always telling a funny story, usually about himself; he love to make people laugh He loved to vacation at the beach, to take casino trips to Atlantic City, to root for the Philadelphia Eagles, and to keep his Cadillac in pristine condition. Above all, he enjoyed being with his family, especially his two daughters. Taken too soon from those who loved him, he’ll forever be missed and always in our hearts..
He is also survived by two adoring daughters, Lauren and Gianna Chelland, both of Old Forge; his siblings, George Chelland, Jr. and wife Melissa of Florida, and Lisa Chelland of Old Forge; his step brother, Jonathan Bartell of Pittston; his grandmother, Jean Chelland of Old Forge; his in-laws, Mary Kay and Michael Palermo of Scranton ; Donna Chelland, wife of George Sr., Peter Amendola, partner of Joan, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his best friend, his pup “Riley.”
A blessing service by Rev. August A. Ricciardi is scheduled for Saturday at 7:00PM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Relatives and friends may pay their respects from 4:00PM until services.
