Christine Ruth Pitta, 67, of Old Forge, died Wednesday evening at Geisinger-Community Medical Center, Scranton.
Born Dec. 16, 1949, in Old Forge, she was the daughter of Theodore Christy Jr., Roaring Brook Twp., and the late Ruth James Christy. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, she was employed by Gertrude Hawk for 25 years as a red coat manager. Christine was a member of St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Cathedral, Scranton.
Christine was the strength of her family whose never-ending love and support for each of her loved ones was unmatched. Her grandchildren were her life, and she enjoyed nothing more than seeing the people she loved smile and laugh together. She loved cooking shows and having her family around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Also surviving are her loving children, Terry Pitta Jr., Old Forge; Tara Degilio, New York; and Tracy Pitta, and fiancé, Anthony Rosario, Old Forge; brother, Theodore Christy and wife, Ellen, Dalton; grandchildren, Corey Degilio, Gavin Pitta, and Derek, Melynna and Jorden Rosario; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Turido (Terry) Pitta.
A celebration of Christine’s life will be Sunday at 6 p.m. in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with a blessing service by the Rev. Janusz Lucarz, assistant pastor of St. Stanislaus PNCC to be followed by a time of remembrances and sharing. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
