Obituaries

Maureen A. McHugh, 57, of Scranton passed away Saturday morning at Geisinger-Community Medical Center
after a courageous 9-year battle with cancer. Her husband of 28 years is Edward W. McHugh.
Born September 21, 1959 in Scranton, she was the daughter of Evelyn Gula Battle and the late Gene Battle.
A 1977 graduate of West Scranton High School, Maureen was of the Catholic faith.
Maureen was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved playing bingo and cards, fishing, scratch off
lottery tickets, and spending time with her family, especially the joy of her life, her granddaughters.
Also surviving are her 2 daughters, Meghan and Alyssa McHugh; 2 granddaughters, Isabella Hoffman and Emilia Lashley; brother, George Battle; and nephew, George Battle, Jr.
A Celebration of Maureen’s Life will begin with a Blessing Service on Thursday at 7 PM in the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc.,
125 N. Main Avenue, Scranton.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 5 PM until the time of the service.
