Russell Nicholas Wilbur, age 49, of Moosic, passed away Sunday at home.
Born on October 7, 1967, he was the loving son of Robert and Jacqueline Malachowski Wilbur of Moosic. A graduate of Riverside High School, Class of 1985, Russell worked at Chaucer Press, RCA, and, prior to illness, for Mia Products, Inc.. He was also a member of the Moosic United Methodist Church.
A sports fanatic who enjoyed fishing and watching professional wrestling, and Nascar, he faithfully rooted for both the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Phillies. Well-known throughout the triborough for his outgoing personality and amazing humor, he was jokingly referred to by friends as the “unelected Mayor of Moosic.” His tremendous work-ethic and determination offset any limitations he may have faced in his life. A loving son, brother, uncle and nephew, his family meant the world to him, especially his nieces and nephew. Adored by all who knew him, he’ll never be forgotten.
He is also survived by his adoring sister, Vickie Jones and her husband Kevin of Moosic; his nephew, K.C. Jones; nieces, Mickayla and Halle Jones; many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends; and his precious Fur Babies; Hailey Girl and Zackarellie.
Funeral services by Rev. Ken Howey are scheduled for 7:00pm on Wednesday at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home.
Private interment will be Thursday at Marcy Cemetery in Duryea.
