Frank (Brud) X. Walsh, age 95, of the Nativity section of Scranton, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning surrounded by his loving family. His beloved wife of 60 years, Mary Therese Walsh, preceded him in death on April 7, 2011.
A lifelong resident of Scranton and born on June 12, 1921, he was the son of the late Frank A. and Jule Flaherty Walsh. A graduate of the former Scranton Technical High School, he then studied Finance through the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business administered through the University of Scranton.
Frank was employed as an accountant. He worked for the Pennsylvania Coal Company, Wallace-Murray Corporation, Ginader, Brojack and Jones, Morwall Trucking Company, as well as holding countless private accounts. His attention to detail, extreme efficiency and sharp mind made him an asset to the clients he served. Even at 95 years young, he was still preparing private tax returns throughout the 2017 tax season.
Of Roman Catholic faith, he was a lifelong member of Nativity of Our Lord Church, St. John Neuman Parish, in South Scranton as well as an avid volunteer for the church’s bingo events and summer festival. He coached little league baseball at Harmon Field for many years. An avid golfer as well, he was always proud of his hole-in-shot in 1970 at the Scranton Municipal Golf Course. Loved by all who knew him, he will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his children, two sons, Francis X. Walsh and wife, Julia, Scranton; and Joseph Walsh and wife, Debby, Lake Ariel; three daughters, Therese Neary and husband, Jack, and Sharon Finnerty and husband, Paul, all of Scranton; and Margaret Briskey and husband, Jerry, Selinsgrove; 18 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
His daughter, Mary Ann Walsh, and siblings, Mary Hudacs, Robert C. and Joseph J. Walsh also preceded him in death.
His family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the amazing care and love given to both Frank and his family over the past several months.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Friday at 10:00AM from the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, with an 11:00AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Neuman Parish, 633 Orchard Street in South Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev.
