Catherine Redensky, age 89, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Friday morning at her niece’s house in Scranton.
Born on March 12, 1928, daughter of the late John and Catherine Kane Armstrong, Catherine was a graduate of West Scranton High School before earning her degree from Lackawanna Business College.
As a secretary she worked for PNC Bank in Scranton before being employed by the City of Scranton’s Tax Office, prior to her retirement. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Church of the Green Ridge section of Scranton.
She enjoyed word finds and loved her scratch-off lottery tickets. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she will be forever missed by all who knew her. Passing away peacefully, she was surrounded by family.
She is survived by her loving son, Stephen Redensky and wife, JoAnn, of Scranton; grandchildren, Ehco, Amber, Stephen Jr. and Sky; great-grandchildren, Evan, Rayne and Tavon; and nieces and nephews, especially Marian (Tootsie) Heyn, with whom Catherine recently resided.
Siblings, Paul, Thomas, Martin, John (Doc) and Al Armstrong, Marian Thomas and Ann O’Neill also preceded her in death.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Thursday at noon from the Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, with a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul’s Church, 1510 Penn Avenue, in Scranton, to be celebrated by Msgr. Neil Van Loon, Pastor. Interment will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery, in Scranton.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 10 a.m.-noon at the funeral home.
