Obituaries

Elizabeth Callis, age 85, of Taylor, passed away Wednesday at Mountain View Care Center in Scranton, after an illness. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Chester E. Callis, on August 6, 2014.
Born on May 23, 1931, in Moosic, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Ernest and Margaret Wega Scherer and educated at the former Moosic High School. Her family was her life, proudly raising her children and adoring her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a former member of the Old Forge Senior Citizens and, along with her husband, enjoyed the polkas. Now at peace, she will be forever missed.
She is survived by three children, Chester Callis and wife Christine of Taylor, David Callis and wife Karin of Dickson City and Judy Shoemaker and husband David of Scranton; four grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Paul and Breanna; two great granddaughters, Gabriella and Arianna; a sister, Mae Deluca of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by nine siblings.
Her family wishes to thank the entire staff of Mountain View Care Center for their tremendous care during her ten month stay.
Private blessing services will be conducted by Rev. August A. Ricciardi with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Old Forge.
