Michael aka “The Boss” aka “Freddy” G. Schuback, Jr., age 65 and a lifelong resident of the Austin Heights section of Old Forge, died Friday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.
Born on August 15, 1951 and son of the late Michael, Sr., and Audrey Bartuska Schuback, Michael was a graduate of Old Forge High School, Class of 1970, before earning his degree from Lackawanna Business School. For many years until his sudden passing, he had owned and operated Schuback’s Auto Parts of Lonesome Road in Old Forge. His amazing work ethic is part of the legacy he’ll leave behind.
A true outdoorsman, he loved fishing and hunting, especially with his nephew, Jason Cistola. He also enjoyed spending his time at his hunting cabin in Susquehanna.
He loved football and was a die-hard fan of the Old Forge Blue Devils, while especially supporting their coach – his son, Michael. He loved all animals but especially his dogs, none more so than “Lilly” and “Awesome.” Referred to as “Storytime with Mike”, he had a knack for telling stories. Passing away suddenly Friday morning, Michael will be forever missed by his family and friends.

A beloved daughter, Nicole Schuback; a longtime companion, Kimberly Cornell; a brother, Keith Schuback; and a son-in-law, Maj. Timothy Ruby, also preceded him in death.
