Patrick “Brownie” W. Salerno, age 79, of Scranton and formerly of Old Forge, died Friday at Allied Skilled Nursing Center, after an illness.
Born in Old Forge, and the son of the late William and Maralda Antonio Salerno, Brownie was a graduate of Old Forge High School. He owned the Sidewalk Café in the Burlington Shopping Center before owning Salerno’s Pizza in South Scranton. Prior to retirement, he helped manage his family’s business, Brownie’s Pizzeria of Scranton. He was the Jitterbug King of Old Forge and loved to play poker. His family would like to thank Allied Skilled Nursing Center’s 2-South staff for their wonderful care and compassion.
He is survived by his soul mate of 20 years, Kay Nealon of Florida; children, Patricia Skurka and husband Rob of Scranton, and Sean Learned of Florida; his siblings, Billy “Beeper” Salerno and Mary Anne of Old Forge and Mary Louise Queen and husband Bill of Scranton; six grandchildren; a great grandson; and nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Deborah Adams; a granddaughter, Jennifer Kaminski, and a sister, Louise Neishman also preceded him in death.
Blessing services are scheduled for Saturday, February 25th, at 10:00AM in the Cathedral Cemetery Chapel, West Scranton. Those attending the service are asked to meet directly at the chapel.
