I am very sorry to hear about Mr. Tagliaterra. I first met him when he came up from Scranton Tang Soo Do karate (with Master Walsh) to my school, Upper Valley Tang Soo Do in Carbondale, as a judge for my first testing as a white belt. I was 6 years old and too small to break the board initially. Normally you get three tries to break. But Mr. Tagliaterra quickly put me at ease during the nerve-racking experience and would not give up on me. He had me try several techniques (several times each!) until I finally broke. That experience had a very positive impact on me and I never forgot it as I began what would become 35 plus years of training in the art. I also remember staring in amazement during demonstrations during those years as Mr. Tagliaterra would stand across the room from another participant shooting arrows at him and he would catch them in mid air! He definitely had a presence and personality that was larger than life and will be missed. - Don Bognatz, San Diego, CA
