John Walker, age 58, a lifelong West Scranton resident, died Tuesday morning at Regional Hospital of Scranton.
Born on May 7, 1958, son of the late Clarence and Dorothy VanDeusen Walker, John was educated at West Scranton High School. He worked as a truck driver, employed by Bolus Freight Systems, Inc., of Scranton, prior to illness.
With the motto “live to ride and ride to live”, John was an avid biker. He loved riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycles, partaking in countless charity biking events throughout his travels. Even throughout his illness, his love and appetite for both Ghigiarelli’s pizza in Old Forge and La Trattoria’s pasta in Scranton never subsided. John was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, relative and friend who will be forever missed.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Walker of Scranton; his sister, Patricia Walker of Scranton; his granddaughter, Alana; his nephew, Bryan Walker and wife Tara; his three great nephews; his great aunt, Marilyn Van Duesen; and his beloved pup, Bruno.
Blessing services by Rev. Joseph Sica are scheduled for Monday at 7:00PM in the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton. Public viewing for family and friends will be from 5-7:00PM at the funeral home. Private burial, Cathedral Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and with John’s love for animals, memorial contributions may be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Township, Pa., 18411.
