Jacqueline (Jackie) Ann McNulty Simonson, age 34, of Taylor, passed away Monday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, after a courageous battle against Neuro-Behcets Disease, an extremely rare auto-immune condition. She is survived by her loving husband, Michael Simonson. The couple were married on October 29, 2005.
Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, on May 6, 1982, Jackie was the daughter of Patricia Farrell McNulty of Old Forge and the late Timothy McNulty. A graduate of Highland Park High School, Class of 2000, she then studied education at Middlesex County College. She was a teacher in early childhood education, before raising her family.
She joyously celebrated every holiday, and she became an excellent crocheter in the past several years. Above all, the focal point of Jackie’s life was her family, where she possessed a strong and loving bond with each member. She lived her life for her children, doing all things necessary throughout her illness to keep them close to her, while cherishing every moment spent with them. Her memory will live on forever with her family and her legacy will be carried by her beloved son and daughters. Taken from her family and friends much too soon, she will forever be missed.
She is survived by four adored children, Reese, Scotlynn and twins, Sally and Brecken Simonson, all of Taylor; her loving siblings, Daniel McNulty of Daytona Beach, Florida, Kelly McNulty of Edison, New Jersey and Katie Cuddey and husband Thomas of Old Forge; her cherished friend and beloved grandmother, Sally Farrell of Taylor; and nieces and nephews, Zack and Phoenix McNulty and Gabrielle and Gavin Cuddey.
Her grandfather, Joseph Farrell; aunt, Terry Farrell; and infant niece, Sophie McNulty, also proceded Jackie in death.
Her family wished to extend their appreciation to the entire staff of Geisinger C.M.C.’s Intensive Care Unit for the tremendous care and compassion shown to Jackie throughout her stay.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Friday at 9:00AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Basilica, Saint Ann’s Street in West Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Siby Padinjaredath, C.P. Entombment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery Mausoleum, Scranton.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 4-8:00PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jackie’s name to the Jacqueline McNulty Simonson Memorial Trust Fund, c/o Wells Fargo Bank, established for the future benefit of her children.
