Donald Wylam, Sr., age 85, of Old Forge and formerly of Taylor, passed away Saturday at Scranton Health Care Center, after a recent illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Hunter Wylam, in 1994.
Born in Old Forge on January 18, 1931, son of the late John and Lillian Williams Wylam, Donald was a graduate of Old Forge High School. A proud U.S. Veteran, he was honorably discharged from the Army in 1954. Prior to his retirement, he worked at the former Vermont Clothing Factory in Taylor. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his children, Donald Wylam, Jr. and wife Patty of Old Forge, and Debbie Wylam; 6 grandchildren; and many adoring nieces and nephews.
Brothers, John (Jack), Evan, Ben, Henry and Sabbath Wylam, and sisters, Lilly Mae Williams, Leah Pryor, Elizabeth Evans, Nancy DiSimone and an infant, Elizabeth Wylam, also preceded him in death.
Private services will be held on Tuesday with military honors by the AMVETS Honor Guard. Burial, Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst Twp.
