Obituaries

Thomas J. Ryan, age 77, previously a lifelong resident of Carbondale, died Thanksgiving morning at Allied Skilled Nursing Center in Scranton.
Born on April 27, 1939, son of the late Frank J. and Frances Craig Ryan, Thomas was educated at St. Rose High School. Prior to retirement, Thomas operated his own painting business. A member of the Army National Guard, he was also a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish of Carbondale. He had also served as an assistant at the former James J. Reilly Funeral Home in Carbondale. Well-known throughout town for his quiet but kind and loving nature, Tom will be forever missed.
He is survived by his brother, Matthew Ryan and wife Antoinette of Greenfield Twp.; a sister-in-law, Ann Moore Ryan of Eynon; and many nieces and nephews.
Siblings, John (Jack) and Francis Ryan, Helen Weaver, Mary Smith and Eileen Bridges, also preceded him in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday at 11:00AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street in Carbondale, to be celebrated by Rev. Jim Price, C.P., Pastor. Interment will follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery in Greenfield Twp. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday between 10:30-11:00AM at the church.
