George W. James, age 60, of Old Forge, passed away tragically on Friday, October 28th, due to a work-related accident.
Born on January 9, 1956, and raised in Old Forge, George was the son of Fred T. James of Old Forge and the late Myrtle Burrier James. A graduate of Old Forge High School, Class of 1974. he worked as a crane rigger for Lane’s Cranes in Moosic and had been part of the Lane work family for 20 years. A true outdoorsman, George was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a past president of the Taylor Girls Softball League, where he had also served as a coach. Above all else, George’s greatest joy came while spending time with his family.
In addition to his father, George is also survived by his daughter, Stephanie White and husband Stephen of Watertown, New York; his grandchildren, Kaleb, Ryleigh and Declan; his brother, Fred T. James, II, and wife Kathy of Disputanta, Virginia; a niece, Erin; a nephew, T.J. and wife Samantha; a great niece, Charlotte; a great nephew, Teddy; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of George’s life is set to begin on Saturday, November 5th, at 4:00PM at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday from 2:00PM until services.
