A lifelong resident of Scranton, Emma was born on November 11, 1923. Daughter of the late Ralph and Rose Marota DeSarro, she was educated at the former Scranton Technical High School. She worked at Cooper’s Rug Factory in Scranton, prior to marriage, and had always been proud of her photo at the factory being displayed at the current Coopers Seafood House.
Prior to residing at the Dunmore Health Care Center, Emma loved her Wednesday evening bingo games. She greeted everyone with a friendly wave and a memorable smile. She was a loving mother and grandmother who passed away peacefully Tuesday morning and will be forever missed by those she loved.
She is survived by three children, Jeanne Dreistadt and husband Michael, III, of Old Forge, Sharon Kleback and husband John of Peckville and David Burnett and wife Mary Clare of Carbondale; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three children, Ralph Burnett and George and Addie Burnett, who both died at birth; and 9 siblings, as she was the last of 10, Samuel, Anthony, Frank, Albert and James DeSarro, Fannie Bongiovanni, Della Russell, Angela Sabato and Mary Catino.
Her family would like to thank the entire staff of Dunmore Health Care Center for six and a half years of amazing care and compassion shown to Emma.
