Eleanor Ogonosky, age 90, of Taylor, died early Friday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center, with her beloved husband by her side. She is survived by her best friend and husband, Joseph Ogonosky. Wed on May 6, 1950, the couple were married for 66 years.
Born in Old Forge on August 28, 1926, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Frank and Stella Cieszkowicz Jarosloski. A graduate of Old Forge High School, Class of 1944, she worked as a seamstress at Dutchess Corporation and then Brook Pants, prior to her retirement. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Duryea.
A loving and loyal wife, sister, aunt and friend, Eleanor passed away peacefully Friday morning.
Also surviving are nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Jean Smerdon; and a brother, John Jarosloski.
Her husband would like to thank both Dr. Michael Jalowiec and his office staff and the Kavulich family for years of amazing care, compassion and love throughout Eleanor’s illness.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin on Monday at 11:15AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a noon Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Church at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 127 Stephenson Street in Duryea, to be celebrated by Rev. John V. Polednak, Pastor. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Old Forge.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Sunday between 1-3:00PM and 6-8:00PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Eleanor’s name to Nativity of Our Lord Parish’s ‘Building Fund’ c/o 127 Stephenson St., Duryea, Pa., 18641.
