Joan Gallucci Mayock Davis, age 52, a lifelong resident of West Scranton, passed away Saturday morning at Regional Hospital of Scranton after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas Davis.
Born
on March 6, 1964, she was the daughter of the late John P. and Rose DiCindio Gallucci. A graduate of West Scranton High School, class of 1982, she earned a cosmetology degree from Empire Beauty School. She worked for Specialty Records and Gertrude Hawks Candy Factory before serving as a CNA for Telespond Senior Services, before her illness. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a longtime member of St. Lucy’s Church in West Scranton.
Joan enjoyed playing bingo, couldn’t resist her sweets and adored her animals. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt who is now at peace. She will be forever missed by the countless people who loved her.
She is survived by her children, Robert and Amy Mayock, both at home; her sister, Valerie Clark and husband, Glenn, of Scranton; her brother, John Gallucci and wife, Nancy, of Matthews, N.C.; former husband, Mark Mayock, of Scranton; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Lucy’s Church, 949 Scranton St., Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Sam J. Ferretti, pastor. Entombment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery Mausoleum. Those attending her funeral are asked to go directly to the church.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made in Joan’s name to the donor’s favorite animal charity.
