Nicholas (Nick) P. Biscontini, Sr., age 74, of Camden, North Carolina, and formerly of Old Forge, passed away Saturday morning in Duryea, where he had resided with family during his illness. He is survived by his adoring wife, Lynn Rowlands Biscontini.
Born in Old Forge, he was the son of the late Peter and Patricia Biancardi Biscontini. A graduate of Old Forge High School, Class of 1959, he was a member of the Blue Devils’ 1958 Eastern Conference Championship team. Nicknamed the “59ers”, Nick and his teammates remained very close and were honored in 2008 for the 50th year anniversary of their historical season.
In 1964, he was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force after proudly serving his country. He graduated from DeVry University before working for R.C.A., Comcast Sound Communications, and, prior to his retirement, as an operations manager for Muzak. In his youth, he was an active member of St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church in Duryea, where he had often volunteered for whichever task the church needed completed. He also enjoyed fishing and making homemade pizza. A man of few words, Nick quietly touched the lives of all of those around him. Passing away peacefully surrounded by family, he’ll forever be missed.
He is survived by his children, Nicholas Biscontini, Jr., and wife Tracy of Old Forge, Jason Biscontini and wife Kathy of Camden, North Carolina, Lori Biscontini of Duryea, and twins, Paul Biscontini and Pamela Miscavage and husband Michael, all of Duryea; his step-daughter, Dawn Cutrufello and husband Anthony of Springfield; his sisters, Barbara Romano and husband John of Old Forge, and Marlene Webb and husband Rev. Philip Webb of Wyoming; eleven grandchildren, Tyler, Jacob, Morgan and Jase Biscontini, Kyle, Ashley and Kaytee Miscavage, Melissa, A.J., Leah and Julia Cutrufello; and nieces and nephews.
His former wife, Dolores Ostrowski Biscontini, passed away on May 11, 2015.
His family wishes to thank Sandy, and the entire staff of Celtic Hospice, for the amazing care collectively given to Nick.
Graveside services, conducted by Rev. Philip Webb, Nick’s brother-in-law, at Marcy Cemetery in Duryea will include full military honors by the AMVETS Honor Guard. Services will be Saturday, October 15th, at 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nick’s name to the donor’s favorite charity.
Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
