William D. Ercolani, 68, a resident of Old Forge, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday at Geisinger-Community Medical Center, Scranton.
His loving wife of 40 years is the former Mary Collins.
Born August 5, 1947 in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Dominick and Rose Carchilla Ercolani. A 1966 graduate of Luzerne High School, Bill served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. Employed for over 30 years by Tobyhanna Army Depot, he volunteered at the VA Hospital in Wilkes-Barre after his retirement. Bill and Mary were faithful members of Peckville Assembly of God Church.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Bill adored Mary, who was the love of his life. His passion in life was making her happy, and never did a day go by that he didn’t show her that he loved her. Family was his life, and he was content to spend his time at home surrounded by those that he loved so dear. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Surviving in addition to his wife are: his daughter, Maria Ercolani, West Pittston; a grandson, Nathan Beers; a sister, Sharon Leahey, and husband, Tim, Shickshinny; sister-in law, Naomi C. Ballard and husband, David Abernathy, San Clemente, Ca.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to his three special angels from Bayada, Danielle Sipko, Mary Jo Bonzek, and Christine DeGrozia. Without you, we would have been
lost. Your care and compassion for Bill was a true testament to what selflessness and true health care really means. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Relatives and friends may pay thier repects on Monday from 5-7 PM in the funeral home.
A celebration of Bill’s life is scheduled for Monday at 7 PM in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc, 517 N. Main St, Old Forge, with Rev. Terry Drost and Rev. Ernest Drost, pastors of Peckville Assembly of God,
officiating. Military Honors will be rendered at the conclusion of the service. Private interment will take place in Marcy Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
