Mildred “Tootsie” Hinckley, age 89, formerly of Crossin Towers in Duryea, passed away Tuesday evening at Highland Manor in Exeter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Hinckley, on June 2, 1970.
Born in Yatesville on May 28, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Anna Schaufler Smith. Prior to her retirement, she worked as both a feeder and an examiner for Consolidated Cigar Factory in Kingston and West Pittston.
An active member of the Moosic Alliance Community Church, she also belonged to the Alliance Women. She was also involved with the Five Hundred Club of Crossin Towers. A loving sister, aunt and friend, she will be dearly missed by her loved ones.
She is survived by two sisters, Ellen Webb of Moosic and Joan Marsh of New Castle, Delaware; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Brothers, Walter and Howard Smith; and sisters, Gladys Hamby, Margaret Belles, Evelyn Schaufler, Mabel and Susan Welter also preceded her in death.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday at noon at the Moosic Alliance Community Church, Rocky Glen Road, Moosic. Luncheon will follow at the church. Private interment, Milwaukee Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday between 11-12:00PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mildred’s name to the Moosic Alliance Community Church, 608 Rocky Glen Road, Pittston Township, Pa., 18641.
