Mary Golembieski, age 87, a lifelong resident of the Austin Heights section in Old Forge, passed away at home on Tuesday, after an illness.
Born on August 24, 1928, daughter of the late Peter and Antoinette Waskiewicz Golembieski, Mary was a graduate of Old Forge High School. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a secretary in the local garment industry.
Of deep Roman Catholic faith, Mary was a lifetime member of St. Stanislaus Church in Old Forge, prior to its closure.
She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to her as their “Cioci.”
Sisters, Anna Golembieski and Sophie Jargiello; and brothers, Anthony, Stanley, Leonard, Victor, Frank and John Golembieski, also preceded her in death.
A 9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Prince of Peace Parish, 123 West Grace Street in Old Forge, to be celebrated by Rev. August A. Ricciardi, Pastor. Interment will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Old Forge.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday between 8:30-9:30AM in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s name to either her church, Prince of Peace Parish, 123 W. Grace Street, Old Forge, Pa., 18518, or to Compassus Hospice Care, 700 S. State Street, Clarks Summit, Pa., 18411.
