Ruth Tucker of Moosic passed away Thursday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Irwin Tucker, on March 23, 2002.
Born in Toronto, Canada, on January 19, 1928, Ruth was the daughter of the late Frederick and Hannah Murray Greenhill. She graduated from Whity High School before attending Toronto Bible College. A former Bell Teletype Operator, Ruth raised her family upon settling in Moosic. She was a faithful and devoted member of the Moosic Assembly of God Church. Possessing an amazing voice, she often sung in the Avoca Community Choir and for several local churches, especially as a soloist at the Moosic Assembly. She would often say she would rather sing than talk. Also an avid gardener until her illness, she was proud of both her flower and vegetable gardens. A loving mother, she will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her family has great comfort knowing she is now with Jesus.
She is survived by her three children, Sharon and Lois Tucker, both of Moosic, and Daniel Tucker and wife Laura of Northern Ontario, Canada; and two grandchildren, Sarah and David; and a great grandson, Devon.
She was also preceded in death by siblings, Murray Greenhill and Mabel Peckover.
Ruth’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Pastor and Mrs. O’Brien of the Moosic Assembly of God, who’ve served as both spiritual guides and dear friends to both Ruth and her family over many years. They would also like to thank Dr. Nicholas Chiumento and his staff, Telespond Services and Comprehensive Health for their excellent care.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday at 11:00AM at the Moosic Assembly of God Church, 477 Third Street in Moosic, to be conducted by Rev. David O’Brien, Pastor. Luncheon will follow at the church. Private burial, Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday at the church between 5-7:00PM.
Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
