Robert A. Cianfichi, age 78, of Roaring Brook Twp., passed away Wednesday at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Rosalie Wolchak Cianfichi, on August 24, 2012. Born in Scranton, on January 3, 1938, son of the late Ben and Nell Contardi Cianfichi, Bob was a graduate of the former Scranton Central High School, Class of 1955, before attending the University of Scranton. He also proudly served in the U.S. Naval Reserves.

He spent over 30 years working for Bell Telephone, and upon his retirement, he served as a consultant for several other telecommunication companies. He enjoyed his RV, and along with his wife he’d travel the country, wintering in Riverwoods Plantation, Estero, Florida. While there he enjoyed table tennis competitions, including one year as champion. An excellent woodworker, Bob especially enjoyed woodcarving, His absolute favorite pastime was gardening where he could often be found nurturing his wide variety of plants.

A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, he will be dearly missed by his family.
He is survived by four sons, Robert B. Cianfichi and wife Deborah of Boiling Springs, Ken Cianfichi and wife Carla of Greer, S.C., Thomas Cianfichi and husband Bryan Batt of New Orleans, LA, and Jamie Cianfichi and wife Michelle of Moscow; a brother, Benjamin Cianfichi and wife Darraugh of Norwalk, CT; a brother-in-law, Joseph Wolchak of Cincinnati, OH.; four grandchildren, Adam Cianfichi and wife Rachel, Cara, Kristi and Kayla Cianfichi. He was also blessed with a great-grandson, Benjamin Cianfichi, son of Adam and Rachel.

His family would like to acknowledge and thank Bob’s caregivers, Carmella Williams, Nancy St. George, Karen Giocobbie, Angie Lyckowski, Emily Hilker, Diana Perciballi, and his two adoring granddaughters, Kristi and Kayla, for the amazing love shown to Bob during his illness, with special thanks to Michelle and Jamie Cianfichi who lovingly managed his care on a daily basis.

Of Roman Catholic faith, he was a member of St. Eulalia’s Church in Moscow. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday at noon at St. Eulalia’s Church, 214 Blue Shutters Road, Moscow, to be celebrated by Msgr. John W. Jordan, Pastor. Private interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday from 11-12:00PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 304, Chicago, Illinois, 60611-3201.
