Adeeb A. (Uncle Eddie) Hazzouri, age 89, a well-respected area businessman and a lifelong resident of Scranton, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday morning, surrounded by loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Lorraine Deeb Hazzouri. Wed on October 15, 1960, the couple were married for 55 years.
Born on April 28, 1927, the son of the late Alex and Zahia Soma Hazzouri, Adeeb was a graduate of the former Scranton Central High School; He also attended the University of Scranton. He would go on to serve as president of Hazzouri Brothers and Co. Inc., working in the family-owned business for over 65 years. He possessed a strong work ethic which was passed down to his sons, Edward and Michael, who proudly and diligently worked alongside their father for many years. A pillar and devoted lifelong member of Saint Ann Maronite Church in West Scranton, he was awarded the prestigious Silver Massabki Award for his faithful dedication and devotion to the church.
To his adoring family, Adeeb was the most wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. To those who knew him, he was a gentleman. Honest, loyal, respectful, generous and humble are only a mere fraction of the words to fittingly describe him. He meant so much to so many and will be forever missed.
He is also survived by three children, Edward; Marguerite Rade and husband, Robert Sr.; and Michael, all of Scranton; his brother, Rev. Alex J. Hazzouri of Dunmore; his two grandchildren, Meghan R. and Robert G. Rade Jr. of Scranton, who he loved dearly; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Hazzouri of Scranton; and many nieces and nephews.
Brothers, Joseph, Dr. Albert Sr. and Sarkis Hazzouri Sr.; and sisters, Waddad Abdalla and Dalal Hazzouri, also preceded him in death.
His family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the countless caregivers who gave such excellent care to Adeeb throughout his illness, Dr. Kenneth Sebastianelli and his nurse, Cindy Donovan, Dr. Linda Barrasse, Dr. Jerald Gilbert and the staffs of both Allied Services and Hospice of the Sacred Heart.
