Norma Rosati, age 89, of Moosic, passed away Saturday at the Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter J. Rosati, Sr., on August 25, 1999.
Born in Venice, Italy, on October 12, 1926, Norma was the daughter of the late Sylvia and Nicholas Terzi. She worked as a forewoman in the local garment industry, having worked for Jimmy’s Apparel and Toni’s Fashions, to name a few. Her talents as a seamstress continued well past her retirement as she still sewed wedding gowns until her recent illness. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a longtime member of the former S.S. Peter and Paul Church in Avoca prior to its closure, and a current parishioner of Queen of the Apostles Parish, also in Avoca.
Very active and independent, she was a member of the Moosic Senior Citizens. An amazing cook, she will long be remembered for making sure everyone who walked through the door of her home was fed. She was awarded a prize by The Scranton Times for her egg plant roll-ups and had also written two cook books of her favorite dishes. A proud mother and grandmother to her loving sons and grandchildren, she will be forever missed.
She is survived by her three sons, Walter Rosati, Jr., and wife Norma of Gouldsboro, Carlo Rosati and wife Patty of Stafford, Virginia, and Raymond Rosati and wife Tammy of Moosic; her sister, Mary Chicco of Italty; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her brother, Nello Terzi, also preceded her in death.
Her family would like to thank Dr. James Sheerer for his care and compssion, as well Norma’s dear friends for their loyal friendship throughout the years.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday at 8:45AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of the Apostle’s Parish, 715 Hawthorne Street in Avoca, to be celebrated by Rev. Phillip J. Sladicka, Pastor. Interment will follow at Marcy Cemetery, Duryea. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday between 4-7:00PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Norma’s name to Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, 100 William Street, Dunmore, 18512.
