Marcella Marich, age 90, of Moosic, passed away Friday morning at Regional Hospital of Scranton, after an illness. She is survived by her beloved husband, Michael Marich. Wed on October 8th, 1954, the couple celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Born on July 1, 1925 and raised in South Scranton, Marcella was the daughter of the late Joseph and Angela Garscia Sienkiewicz. A graduate of the former Scranton Central High School, she then worked for the International Correspondance School before retiring from the book department of Scranton’s Globe Store. She and her husband were longtime members of St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church in Old Forge.
An avid reader, she also loved to sew and solve crossword puzzles. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be forever missed by her loved ones.
She is also survived by her three children, Mary Ellen Kern of Wilkes Barre, Dr. Michael J. Marich and wife Lisa of Yorba Linda, California, and Bryan Marich and wife Donna of Beach Lake; her six grandchildren, Rachel, Melissa, Maria, Michael M., Laura and Christopher, and many nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Denise Russell, and siblings, Richard, Albert, Tillie, Jean and Amelia, also preceded her death.
Her family would like to offer their gratitude to Dr. Paul Remick for being such a wonderful doctor throughout Marcella’s illness.
An Office of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday at 10:00AM at St. Nicholas of Myra Church, 140 Church Street in Old Forge, to be conducted by Rev. Gary J. Mensinger. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.
