Born in Nanticoke on April 11, 1918, daughter of the late John Stanley and Louisa Knight Watkins, Beatrice was educated in Slocum Twp. schools. For over 20 years prior to her retirement, she worked as a machine operator for the former Best Maid Apparel. She served as church treasurer, secretary, and Sunday School teacher for 30 years. Both selfless and caring, she served as a volunteer for countless organizations. She was a Youth Fellowship Leader, a trustee for the Health Hospital Planning Council, Area Agency of Aging Advocacy Council and Meals on Wheels. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, she passed away peacefully while entering the arms of the Lord.
She is survived by her children, William Strunk of Pittston Twp., Lewis Strunk of Duryea and Marilyn Silfee of Hershey; seven grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
An infant son, Ronald Strunk; grandchildren, David and Dr. Susan Silfee; siblings, William, Wesley and Lewis Smith, and Dorothy George; and a step father, John Smith, also preceded her in death.
Her family wishes to thank the entire staff of Mountain View Care Center for their tremendous care and compassion throughout Beatrice’s stay.
