Obituaries

Elizabeth (Betty) Marsico, age 71, of Scranton, passed away Friday at Linwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she resided for 10 years.
Betty worked as a waitress at the former Globe Store’s Charlemont Restaurant in Scranton and, prior to her illness, for the Bluebird Diner in Factoryville. Of Roman Catholic faith, she attended church at St. Francis of Assisi prior to its closure and more recently at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, both of South Scranton. She will be forever missed by those who loved her.
She is survived by her longtime companion and best friend, John Polster of Scranton; a dear friend, Deacon Edward Casey of Archbald; and nieces, nephews and friends.
A sister, Margaret Schouweiler, preceded her in death on July 4, 2011.
Her loved ones would like to thank the Linwood Nursing Staff for years of tremendous care, compassion and love.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday at 10:00AM in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, St. Paul of the Cross Parish, 1217 Prospect Ave., Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Scott Sterowski, Pastor. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery. Respects may be paid at the church from 9:30AM until Mass.
