Helen M. McCormack, age 89, a lifelong resident of West Scranton, died Sunday evening at Linwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scranton. She is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas McCormack, Sr. Wed on May 27, 1950, the couple were married for 65 years.
Born on January 6, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Helen and Thomas Miller. Helen was a graduate of West Scranton High School before being married and raising her seven children. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Parish in West Scranton. She enjoyed gardening and being with her family. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by five children, Thomas McCormack, Jr., Kathleen McCormack, Jim McCormack and wife Amy, Maryellen McCormack and Caroline DeNinno and husband Nick, all of Scranton; three grandchildren, Corinne and Megan DeNinno and Jimmy McCormack; her sister, Mary Pocius of Brooklyn, New York; and nieces and nephews.
Beloved sons, Michael and John McCormack; and siblings, Stella, Stanley and Alex Miller, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will begin on Thursday at 9:30AM from the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton, with a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, 1708 Oram Street in Scranton. Interment will follow at the Cathedral Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday between 8:30-9:30AM at the funeral home.
