Edward Boynosky, age 63, of Jefferson Twp., died Sunday evening at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.
Born in Taylor on October 18, 1952, he was son of the late Edward J. Boynosky and Theresa Zagorski Boynosky. Eddie was a graduate of North Pocono High School, Class of 1970. After attending Paul Smith College, he earned his Bachelors Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the University of Denver in 1974.
Ed’s career in business management led him to work for Yellow Freight and AT&T before becoming a client service executive at Cigna, where he worked for nearly fifteen years.
Ed was an excellent chef, passionate about food, and always gathering family and friends together to chat around the table, often at his beloved family home on Lake Spangenberg. Having been raised amongst two generations of restaurateurs and refining his skill set while working in Las Vegas, Ed truly enjoyed entertaining a crowd and never failed to amaze guests with his energy in the kitchen and spirit of celebration. A master in the art of stained glass, he owned Designs in Glass, and his work is still displayed in many local businesses. His talents in home restoration earned innumerable accolades from family and friends and once even from the City of Scranton.
With awe and love for the natural world, he was an avid skier in his youth, and always enjoyed sailing, especially in Naples, Florida, where he kept his boat docked.
Edward passed away Sunday evening surrounded by his loving family, and he will forever be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Robin Boynosky and fiance Jonathan Logan of Oakland, Ca., and Kristopher Boynosky and wife Shannon of Minneapolis, Mn.; his brother, Garrett Boynosky and wife Julianne of Old Forge; three grandchildren, Lucia, Sabine and Jacob; and his niece, Dr. Nicole Boynosky, DVM, of San Diego, Ca.
Blessing services by Rev. Francis L. Pauselli, Divine Mercy Parish Pastor, are scheduled for Wednesday at noon in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00AM until services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Edward’s name to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, Va., 22311.
