Lois Ruth Seaman, age 88, of Old Forge, died Thursday morning at Wesley Village in Pittston, where she recently resided. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, George Taylor Seaman, on Sept. 10, 2009.
Born on April 19, 1927 and raised in Moosic, Lois was the daughter of the late George and Helen Lockett Harrison. A graduate of Moosic High School, class of 1945, she worked for Anemostat, where she was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, until her retirement in 1985.
She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Old Forge. A member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Martha Washington – Chapter 3 Division, she was also a member of the Moosic Senior Cirizens. She enjoyed her time playing cards as a member of the Royal Card Club, she loved playing slot machines, especially in Atlantic City and she was an avid bingo player, especially at Eagle McClure in Old Forge. She enjoyed traveling extensively with her husband after their retirement, visiting Hawaii on 13 separate occasions, enjoying several trips to the Caribbean and visiting the Philippines and Hong Kong.
Passing away peacefully, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be forever missed.
Surviving are her children, Sara Steele, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Susan Connell and husband, James, West Palm Beach, Fla.; and Scott Seaman, Old Forge; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Her siblings, Sidney and Jack Harrison and Audrey Terry, also preceded her in death.
Her family wishes to thank the entire staff of Wesley Village for the tremendous care given to Lois throughout her stay.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 143 Harrison St., Old Forge, to be conducted by the Rev. Susan Zimmerman, pastor. Interment will follow at Marcy Cemetery in Duryea.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main Street, Old Forge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lois’ name to her church, First United Methodist Church, 143 Harrison St., Old Forge, PA 18518.
