Raymond Bulger, age 69, of Dunmore, passed away Monday afternoon at home.
Born in West Scranton on March 12, 1946, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary Siminavich Bulger. A 1964 graduate of West Scranton High School where he starred in both football and baseball, he then attended Fredericksburg Military Academy. He would go on to graduate in 1974 from the University of Scranton with a Degree in Business. He later attained Master’s Degrees in both English Literature and Journalism from the University of Scranton as well. Also receiving a Degree in Newspaper Management from the University of Rochester, he formerly served as the Managing Editor of the New Age Examiner Newspaper in Tunkhannock. He passed courses in Health and Life Insurance Sales and Real Estate Sales and Practices, and had previously worked for Nasser Real Estate.
He was associated with both the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, Keystone Chapter, as well as the Shriners, and was an avid reader and fabulous cook. He will be forever missed by his beloved family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Colleen Michalek of New Hampshire; sisters, Rita Hubshman and husband Jack of Scranton, and Renee Bulger of Virginia; brother, Richard Bulger and wife Linda of Scranton; many nieces and nephews; and his dearest feline friend of 21 years, Mollie.
His sister, Romayne DeBiasie, also preceded him in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday at 10:00AM in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, 1605 Oram Street in Scranton. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Throop.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday between 9:30-10:00AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Raymond’s name to the University of Scranton’s Royal fund, P.O. Box 1385, Scranton, Pa., 18501-9903.
