Obituaries

Jean Swisher of Hawley, passed away Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, several days shy of her 91st birthday. Born in Dover, New Jersey, on January 11, 1925, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lloyd Swisher, Sr., on November 28, 1995.
She is survived by her loving children, Colleen Mentz and husband Richard, Susan Belk and husband Ted, Vickie Every and husband Bill and John Swisher; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
A son, Lloyd Swisher, Jr.; and a brother, John Bergfels, also preceded her in death.
A celebration of Jean’s life is scheduled for January 17th at 2:00PM at her former residence, Barker Street Apartment’s community room, 615 Barker St., Hawley. Private interment, Sterling Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care of the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s name to the Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Drive, Honesdale, Pa. 18431.
